Precision in Every Bean
After visiting Ponganes Coffee Roasters in Chiang Mai, we were introduced to Mana Coffee. The flavors of Mana's Pongnok natural stood out immediately. We wanted to learn more.
Chiang Mai has played a central role in the growth of Thailand’s coffee scene. Over the past few decades, small producers in the surrounding mountains began moving away from commodity crops and toward specialty coffee. With altitude, shade-grown farms, and a strong community of growers, the region has become one of the country’s most respected coffee hubs. Roasters like Ponganes helped put it on the map by focusing on quality and traceability long before it became standard.
Mana focuses on coffee grown at lower elevations, a part of the industry that often gets overlooked. Their strength lies in careful post-harvest processing. Year after year, they manage to bring out clean and vibrant flavors with impressive consistency.
Mae Hong Son, a quiet village in the far north of Thailand near the Myanmar border, has been a key part of Bubba’s house blend. This washed process coffee, dried in parchment, has a mellow, nutty character. There is a soft sweetness and low acidity. It’s smooth and balanced. Something you can drink any time of day.
Before we started working with them in 2018, Mana Coffee was already exporting Thai specialty coffee to Europe. We’re proud to keep part of that work here and share it with the community on Koh Phangan.
