The heartbeat of Thai coffee culture.

Who she is

Coffee roaster, barista, judge, and cocktail master, Liz Shen is a third-generation Chinese-Thai coffee producer who has become a key figure in the Thai coffee world — and is pushing its reach into new places like China, Taiwan, and Malaysia. There's heritage in her story, but also serious drive and energy in everything she does. Her family's coffee, Doi Phatang, is grown in Chiang Rai province, close to Phu Chi Fa mountain.

How we met

We first met Liz at a public cupping at her roastery in Bangkok. She spoke with real passion about her family's farm, and it stuck with us. Since that day, she's become both a trusted partner and a good friend. Her knowledge, shaped by her family roots and her own projects, has helped us understand Thai specialty coffee in a way we couldn't have on our own — including introducing us to Yosniyom, one of the farms we now buy from directly.

How we work together now

We used to sell Liz's coffee as a single origin. These days, we buy bulk green beans through her that form the base of our blends — a quieter role than before, but a steady one. It means her influence is in every cup of Houseblend or Bold Roast we pour, even without her name on the bag.

What she's built

Liz grew up in coffee, but she's taken it further — experimenting with processing, refining roast profiles, and mentoring young talent coming up in the Thai scene. Working with her has brought more than good coffee. It's opened up a network of people doing good work, sparked new collaborations, and given us a deeper connection to the growers and roasters behind the scenes.

She's not just a producer or a barista. Liz is someone who makes things happen — a builder, a teacher, and one of the most grounded and creative voices in Thai coffee.
